Muck (Mexican Dip)
When our kids were young we always called this recipe Nachos; but my sister's kids called it "Muck" and they were always excited when muck was on the menu.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Turkey (or sausage meat)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 1/2 crushed dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Hot Pepper Sauce
- 28 oz can kidney beans, undrained
- Grated cheddar cheese
- Tortilla chips
InstructionsCook ground turkey and onion in a large skillet over medium heat, until no longer pink. Crumble often. Add ketchup, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, salt and hot pepper sauce. Blend well. Puree kidney beans and liquid in a blender and stir into turkey mixture. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Place tortilla chips on a plate. Cover with "muck" and garnish with cheese. Or, spoon "muck" onto a plate, garnish with cheese and scoop with chips. May also also be garnished with salsa, sour cream, chopped tomatoes, green peppers or any other favourite toppings.
